JOB TITLE:       English Instructional Coach & Spanish Instructional Coach

 

STATUS:           Full Time, Exempt Position

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Instructional Coach will work with teachers in a Spanish/English Two-Way-Immersion and Expeditionary Learning (EL) Program to support and improve student learning. The Instructional Coach will enhance individual and small group learning opportunities for teachers through implementing and integrating the dual language and EL curriculum. This position requires the individual to coach, model, mentor, and facilitate instruction for regular classroom teachers. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Observe teacher practice and provide feedback to individual teachers. Utilize the coaching model of planning, demonstrating, and providing feedback with teachers.
  • Conduct teacher evaluations and develop teacher improvement plans when necessary.
  • Coordinate with counterpart coach English and Spanish language assessments and achievement tests for students.
  • Coach small groups and individual teachers in analyzing student assessment data and using data to differentiate instruction.
  • Provide the teachers with specific instructional strategies and lesson based on RTI assessment data. Provide teachers and paraprofessionals with strategies, tools, and techniques to promote effective teaching practices in Expeditionary Learning and dual language instruction.
  • Assist in the alignment of coaching and professional development to school-wide goals.
  • Support teachers in achieving results for all students. Demonstrate exemplary classroom practice and understanding of dual language best practices to improve student achievement.
  • Provide regular, written status reports to Head of School (HOS). Maintain manual and electronic data to determine impact of coaching on student achievement.  
  • Support teachers with curriculum software and classroom-related technologies.
  • Model lessons when necessary.
  • Articulate and monitor desired outcomes and goals in collaboration with Head Of School (HOS) and educational contracted consultants.
  • Hold a growth-mindset for self, colleagues, and students.
  • Establish trust, rapport, and credibility with the school community.
  • Manage time effectively to maximize teacher schedules and learning.
  • Attend workshops/ conferences for ongoing personal learning including Expeditionary Learning and Dual Language Instruction.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from an accredited college/university. Dual-Language Education, or Second-language Acquisition, or Literacy, preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology and curriculum software to provide quality instruction.
  • Ability to work with adult learners.
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience in elementary education.   
  • Experience in bilingual settings highly preferred.  Experience with learner-centered, project-based approaches highly desirable.
  • Current Delaware License eligible
  • 2 positions available - 1 Spanish native speaker required, 1 Spanish proficiency preferred.
